چکیده

ELL and LLL, both introduced in [Gir98], are two logical systems which characterize respectively the class of Kalmar elementary functions and the class of deterministic polytime functions. Their syntactical formulation (both in the sequent calculus and proof-net framework) is quite different from that of “traditional” linear logic, namely because of the presence of blocks and discharged formulas. Even though the intended meaning of these two syntactical devices is well explained in Girard’s paper (a block of formulas should be read as their additive disjunction, whereas a discharged formula [A] should be read as ?A), there is no obvious way to recover ELL and LLL proofs from the traditional syntax. In [DJ99], Danos and Joinet addressed this issue in the case of ELL, redefining it as the proper sub-set of LL proofs which satisfy the so-called stratification condition. The stratification condition uses the concept of exponential branch, which can be recovered from the more general concept of exponential tree:

A Decision Procedure Revisited: Notes on Direct Logic, Linear Logic and its Implementation

Bellin, G. and J. Ketonen, A decision procedure revisited: Notes on direct logic, linear logic and its implementation, Theoretical Computer Science 95 (1992) 115-142. This paper studies decidable fragments of predicate calculus. We will focus on the structure of direct predicate calculus as defined in Ketonen and Weyhrauch (1984) in the light of the recent work of Girard (Girard 1987, 1988) on ...

Notes on Lactuca saligna in Iran

In the identification process of weed materials available in "IRAN" herbarium, a specimen belonging to the genus Lactuca (Asteraceae) had the following characteristics: Plant annual, many stemmed from base; stem erect-slightly procumbent, slender, glabrous, whitish and leafy. Basal leaves dried; stem leaves ca. 7 × 0.5 cm, glabrous, linear-lanceolate, entire at margin, sessile, auriculate, auri...

Lecture Notes on Classical Linear Logic

Originally, linear logic was conceived by Girard [Gir87] as a classical system, with one-sided sequents, an involutive negation, and an appropriate law of excluded middle. For a number of the applications, such as functional computation, logic programming, and implicit computational complexity the intuitionistic version is more suitable. In the case of concurrent computation, both classical and...

From Focalization of Logic to the Logic of Focalization

Focalization property is a deep outcome of linear logic proof theory, putting to the foreground the role of polarity in logic. It resulted an important advances in various fields, ranging from linear logic programming to game theoretical analysis of linear logic proofs. The aim of this article is to propose an algebraic study of focalization property for the multiplicative-additive fragment of ...

Simulating Computations in Second Order Non-Commutative Linear Logic

Lincoln, Scedrov and Shankar proved undecidability of intuitionistic second order multiplicative commutative linear logic by embedding LJ2 into this logic. Emms did the same for intuitionistic second order non-commutative linear logic. Recently, Lafont and Scedrov demonstrated undecidability of classical second order multiplicative commutative linear logic. As for classical second order non-com...

Focused Linear Logic and the λ-calculus

Linear logic enjoys strong symmetries inherited from classical logic while providing a constructive framework comparable to intuitionistic logic. However, the computational interpretation of sequent calculus presentations of linear logic remains problematic, mostly because of the many rule permutations allowed in the sequent calculus. We address this problem by providing a simple interpretation...
